The 2nd Chance Project uses the power of sport to engage people in the criminal justice system by using positive community role models who build up the levels of trust and mutual respect, so that alternative lifestyles can be introduced through a structured case management approach and programmes of education, training and mentoring.

We are proud to have worked in the following establishments:

  • HMP & YOI Ashfield
  • HMP Portland
  • HMP Bristol
  • Rio Cobre Correctional facility in Jamaica
  • HMP Oakwood
  • HMYOI Parc.

We are also proud to have supported the development of similar approaches in:

  • HMP & YOI Isis
  • HMP & YOI Feltham

Much of our work in custody has been externally evaluated and as a result, we are the leading source of evidence for the delivery of sport in custody.

For more information, check out our range of evidence.

Moving forwards, we aim to continue building partnerships, piloting innovative projects and supporting the delivery of quality sport and physical activity in secure establishments across England and Wales.
